What is the SS 310 plate used for?
SS 310 Plate is a highly versatile material used in various industries. It is often utilized in high-temperature services due to its ability to resist oxidation and corrosion at extreme temperatures. Its high chromium and nickel alloy composition allow it to withstand temperatures up to 1050 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for various industrial processes requiring extreme heat exposure. SS 310 Plate exhibits excellent resistance to carburizing and nitriding environments and oxidizing atmospheres; this quality makes the metal an excellent choice for uses such as heat exchangers and kilns. Beyond its heat-resistant qualities, SS 310 Plate also delivers notable strength and wear resistance capabilities which can be adapted for any application that necessitates quality performance.
What is the density of the 310S Stainless Steel Plate?
310S stainless steel plates are a form of commercially available chromium-nickel-based alloy. As such, they have a unique composition that gives them an optimal balance of strength, elasticity, and corrosion resistance. In addition, the density of 310S stainless steel plates is 8.0 g/cm3 or 0.289 lb/in3, making them relatively light compared to other metals with similar properties. Although they may not be the lightest materials on the market, their low density allows them to be easily formed into complex shapes and sizes while still offering superior performance in most applications.

Possible Alternative Grades |
Possible alternative grades to grade 310 stainless steels are given in table 5. |
Possible alternative grades to 310 grade stainless steel
|
Grade |
Why it might be chosen instead of 310 |
3CR12 |
Heat resistance is needed, but only to about 600°C. |
304H |
Heat resistance is needed, but only to about 800°C. |
321 |
Heat resistance is needed, but only to about 900°C. Subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance also required. |
253MA (2111HTR) |
A slightly higher temperature resistance is needed than can be provided by 310. Better resistance to reducing sulphide atmosphere needed. Higher immunity from sigma phase embrittlement is required. |
