heat exchangers, pulp mill digesters, bleach washers, chip pre-steaming vessels, and more. It has high
resistance to abrasion, erosion and cavitation erosion. The corrosion resistance of the minimum
resistant duplex stainless steels is superior than that for the most frequently used grades of stainless
steels, i.e. 304 and 316. They are also used in pulp and paper industry – digesters, bleaching
equipment, and stock-handling systems. However, because descaling is somewhat difficult in comparison
with Type 304, alkali immersion before acid pickling, and if possible, shot blasting are extremely
effective. We also offer these products in made-to-order specifications.
What is UNS S31803 material?
UNS S31803 is a duplex stainless steel that contains a mixture of austenitic and ferritic phases. It is
also known as Duplex 2205, which is a common grade for its excellent corrosion resistance and high
strength. UNS S31803 material has a high resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion
cracking in chloride-containing environments. It also has good mechanical properties, such as high yield
strength and good ductility, making it a popular choice for use in harsh and corrosive environments.
Is duplex uns s31803 corrosion resistant?
Yes, duplex uns s31803 is very resistant to corrosion. It is made up of a combination of ferrite and
austenite processes. Duplex stainless steels consequently exhibit traits common to both austenitic and
ferritic stainless steels. When compared to pure austenitic and pure ferritic grades, this combination
of properties can result in some compromise.
